How to Build an Ancient Toilet at Home
Materials for Toilet:
- 2 boxes
- Silver or grey and brown paint
- Paintbrush
- X-acto knife
- Duct tape
Materials for Paper Mache:
- White Glue
- Water
- Flour
- Bowl
- Spoon
Directions:
1. Start by taking the 2 boxes and cutting a circle in the bottom of the box with the X acto knife. Then flip the box over so that the hole is on top. Now cut the face of the box facing you, you are going to cut this in a skinny oval shape, connect the two cuts together. On the sides of the boxes cut small arches to represent the waterway of the plumbing in the toilet.
2. In a bowl, mix the water, glue, and flour to make the Paper Mache liquid, and then rip the newspaper into small pieces. Taking a piece of paper, dunk it into the liquid and let it drip, and then place it on the box. Continue this step until the box is covered.
3. Let the boxes dry for about a day.
4. The next day, paint the boxes any colour you want. We recommend that you paint it brown with blotches of grey or silver to show the aging of the toilet from being outdoors. Wait until paint is dry before you proceed to next step.
5. Using duct tape, tape the 2 boxes together from the archway that they meet up at.
6. Paint the duct tape so it doesn't stick out. Paint the inside of the box.
7. Wait for it to dry.
